Stepping Up

A while back my son and I were wandering around the car boot market and I came across an old weathered ladder.  A beautiful one!  I instantly fell upon it, (not literally), turned it over, stood it up, and asked the price.  It was R70!  I was so desperate for it!  I know you are going to ask - well why didn't you buy it!  Well - the reason ........ my son!  He couldn't quite grasp my love of this old piece of wood!  I could see it perched up against the wall, either with towells hanging over each rung, or just left to stand and look beautiful without any adnornment whatsoever.
Clearly my son did not share the same sentiments as me!
"You've gone MAD mom! Leave it! What you gonna' do with a stupid old ladder? Just leave it! Let's go!"
Needless to say - I walked away from that treasure.
The following weekend it was still there - but this time the husband was in tow - and he's even worse than the son!
So, again, I left it!
The next time I went - it was gone!!!
I could have sobbed!
Ever since that day - whenever I see pictures of ladders used in decorating - my heart tugs!
They bring such charm to a room.
So my advice to you, and to myself is - when next you see something you love - irrespective of the family's comments - buy it! Love it! And the very next time I come across a ladder - this is exactly the advice I will take!

Damn near perfect!

Who would have thought a ladder could look so good?

This ladder has been made out of gum poles and some old wood.

Funky Junk Interiors always come up with the most amazing ideas! One of my favourites this ladder!

This whole setting is delightful! Not only the ladder - but the toilet roll holder above the loo and the window!

I hadn't thought of this use for a ladder before! Classic!

Book shelf!

Another amazing use of a ladder!
